Heavy rains cause knee-deep water on various roads in Dhaka. Heavy rain and thunderstorms that began at midnight continued on Monday morning. Since morning, various roads in the capital have been flooded with knee-to-waist water. This has caused extreme suffering to the common people. Especially office-going and hard-working people have been the most affected.

The continuous rain that started on Sunday (September 19) night has left roads and alleys in the capital’s Moghbazar Wireless Gate, Bailey Road, Siddheshwari, Mouchak, Malibagh Intersection, Shantinagar Intersection, and other areas with knee-deep water. The main roads in Shantinagar and Mouchak areas are waist-deep in water. Rickshaw movement in these areas has also been disrupted, with passengers having to pay extra fares.

Employees and hard-working people who have left their homes in search of livelihood have faced extreme hardship. In many areas, there are no cars or proper transportation options. Many people are forced to work in wet conditions.

Heavy rains that began at 5:45 am today continued until 7 am. Then light to moderate rains continued until 9:30 am. At around 7:30 am, water accumulated on the roads in Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Kalabagan, Karwan Bazar, Green Road, Monipuripara, New Market, Asadgate, Jigatola and Khilkhet areas, increasing traffic congestion.

Knee-deep water has been seen in some places. In Fakirapul, Kakrail, Malibagh, Rajarbagh and Motijheel areas, waist-deep water has accumulated in some places.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that 34 millimeters of rain was recorded in Dhaka from midnight yesterday to 6 am today.

There is a possibility of a low pressure forming in the North Bay of Bengal today. Although the Meteorological Department has not yet officially announced anything, meteorologist Md. Shahinul Islam believes that its impact has already begun.
